Legal framework for your night by the river

Terms and Conditions

Applies to: riverandroasst.com & on-premises venue

Please review these terms before browsing our site, booking a table, confirming an event, or joining The River Room card lounge.

1. Introduction to Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the website located at https://riverandroasst.com (the Site), and your interactions with Riverandroast as a physical riverside restaurant, woodfired grill, and offline card lounge venue in Australia. They explain your rights and obligations when browsing our content, making secure reservations, booking events, or participating in any activities within our venue, including The River Room card lounge.

By engaging with the Site or our venue, you acknowledge that Riverandroast provides information and services related to an in-person hospitality and entertainment venue only. The River Room is a land-based card lounge for face-to-face Texas Hold'em tournaments and other permitted games; it is not an online gambling platform, and no remote or online wagering is offered via this Site.

These Terms and Conditions are intended to create a clear and transparent legal framework so that all guests, visitors, and event organisers understand how Riverandroast operates, what we commit to providing, and what we reasonably expect from you in return.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Site, submitting a reservation, confirming an event, joining a waitlist, or attending Riverandroast or The River Room in person, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, together with any additional policies referenced on this page, including our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must not continue to access or use the Site, and you should refrain from making bookings or participating in any activities at the venue that are subject to these terms.

If you are making a booking or an enquiry on behalf of another person or a group (for example, a corporate function or private event), you represent and warrant that you are authorised to accept these Terms and Conditions on their behalf and that you will provide them with an accurate summary of the key terms that apply to their visit.

3. Modification of Terms

Riverandroast may update, amend, or replace any part of these Terms and Conditions at any time at our sole discretion, in order to reflect changes in our operations, services, legal obligations, or risk management practices. When changes are made, the updated version will be posted on this page with immediate effect, unless otherwise stated in the updated terms.

Your continued use of the Site, your decision to proceed with a booking, or your continued participation in our venue activities after any changes have been posted will constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any updated terms, you must stop using the Site and, where relevant, contact us promptly through the Contact Us page to discuss any existing bookings or arrangements.

We recommend that you review this page periodically, particularly prior to confirming new reservations, events, or participation in The River Room, to ensure you remain informed about the terms that currently apply.

4. User Eligibility and Conduct

4.1 Eligibility to use our services

To use the Site, submit booking requests, or participate in activities at Riverandroast, you must be able to enter into a legally binding agreement under the laws applicable in Australia. By using our services, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or such higher age as may be required under applicable local laws for specific activities, including entry to The River Room card lounge and participation in Texas Hold'em tournaments.

Certain events or areas within the venue, including The River Room, may be restricted to adults only or subject to specific identification requirements. We reserve the right to request valid identification and to refuse entry or service if appropriate identification is not provided or if you do not meet the eligibility criteria.

4.2 Behavioural expectations within the venue

Riverandroast is committed to providing a safe, responsible, and welcoming environment for all guests and staff. While on the premises, you must conduct yourself in a respectful and considerate manner, and you agree that you will not:

  • Engage in disorderly, aggressive, abusive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate behaviour towards staff, other guests, or third parties.
  • Harass, intimidate, or endanger any person, or create a risk to public health or safety.
  • Bring prohibited items onto the premises, including but not limited to illegal substances, weapons, or items considered unsafe at our discretion.
  • Participate in any form of cheating, collusion, or dishonest conduct in relation to card games or any other activity in The River Room.
  • Exceed responsible limits in relation to alcohol consumption or ignore reasonable requests from staff regarding your behaviour.

We reserve the right to refuse entry, refuse service, or require you to leave the venue immediately if we reasonably believe that your behaviour breaches these expectations or poses a risk to others.

4.3 Website usage restrictions

When accessing and using the Site, you agree that you will not:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Site or interfere with any other party's use.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, server, or associated systems, whether by hacking, password mining, or other means.
  • Use automated tools, scraping technologies, or data-mining techniques to access or collect information from the Site without our prior written consent.
  • Upload, transmit, or distribute any viruses, malware, or harmful code.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity, when making enquiries or bookings.

We may monitor access to the Site for security and operational reasons and may suspend or block access to any user who we reasonably believe has breached these usage restrictions.

5. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all content, branding, and materials made available on the Site are the exclusive property of Riverandroast or are used by us under appropriate licence. This includes, without limitation, all text, copy, menus, descriptions, layout and design elements, logos, trademarks, service marks, trade names, visual identity elements, infographics, downloadable resources, and any multimedia content describing our restaurant, grill, cellar selections, and The River Room card lounge.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access and view the Site for your personal, non-commercial use only. Except as expressly permitted by applicable law, you must not reproduce, distribute, modify, display, perform, publish, create derivative works from, or otherwise exploit any part of the Site or its content without our prior written consent.

Any unauthorised use of the Site's content or our branding, including use that may cause confusion about any association or endorsement by Riverandroast, is strictly prohibited and may result in legal action. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms and Conditions are reserved by Riverandroast.

6. Booking Policy

6.1 Making secure table reservations

Table and lounge reservations for Riverandroast may be requested through the Secure Table Booking page, through direct contact with our team via the Contact Us page, or through any authorised booking channels that we may specify from time to time. When submitting a booking request, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, including the number of guests, preferred time, and any special requirements.

Your reservation is not considered confirmed until you receive an explicit confirmation from us, which may be via email, SMS, or other communication. Riverandroast reserves the right to decline or adjust a booking request where capacity, operational constraints, or eligibility requirements are not met.

6.2 Deposits, pre-authorisations, and payment terms

For certain bookings, including but not limited to peak periods, large groups, corporate bookings, or events involving The River Room, we may require a deposit or payment card pre-authorisation to secure your reservation. Any such requirement, including the amount and timing, will be communicated to you at the time of booking or confirmation.

By providing your payment details, you authorise us to process any agreed deposit or pre-authorisation in accordance with the conditions communicated to you. Where applicable, final charges for food, beverages, and services will be settled at the venue at the conclusion of your visit, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing.

6.3 Cancellations, changes, and no-shows

We understand that plans may change. If you need to cancel or modify your reservation, you must notify us as early as reasonably possible using the communication details provided in your booking confirmation or via the Contact Us page. Specific cancellation timeframes or fees may apply to certain reservations, particularly for larger groups, corporate functions, or special events.

Where a cancellation is made within a specified cut-off period, any deposit or pre-authorisation may be refunded or released in accordance with the terms provided to you at the time of booking. Late cancellations, significant guest reductions, or failure to attend without notice (no-shows) may result in the forfeiture of deposits or the charging of a cancellation fee, at our reasonable discretion.

6.4 Event bookings and The River Room card lounge

Bookings for corporate dining, private events, and participation in The River Room card lounge may be subject to additional or bespoke terms, including minimum spend requirements, pre-set menus, time allocations, entry criteria, or tournament guidelines. Any such terms will be clearly communicated to you during the enquiry and confirmation process and will form part of your agreement with Riverandroast.

Participation in The River Room is strictly in-person and subject to any house rules, eligibility requirements, and responsible conduct expectations explained by staff on the day. We may suspend or cancel card lounge sessions where safety, operational, or regulatory considerations require it, and we will act reasonably in attempting to notify affected participants.
